Alshaya launches leading US Footwear brand in Turkey

Fashionable footwear at affordable prices

Payless ShoeSource, the largest speciality family footwear retailer in the U.S., and M.H. Alshaya Co. have introduced the Payless retail chain to Turkey this February. Just as in the U.S. and in other parts of the world, Payless will be offering a huge variety of on-trend, comfortable, high-quality and affordable footwear to the Turkish consumer.

The first Payless ShoeSource store opened in Cevahir Shopping Mall on 16th February. The second store will be opened in the Optimum Shopping Mall on 26th February and Alshaya plans to open an additional five stores in Istanbul in the second part of the year.

The entry into the Turkish market marks a further expansion of the brand across Alshaya’s portfolio. From an initial one Payless store launched in March 2009, Alshaya today operates over 30 Payless stores in six markets: Kuwait, The United Arab Emirates, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Russia and now Turkey.

Payless ShoeSource, Inc., a unit of Collective Brands, Inc., (NYSE:PSS) is the largest specialty family footwear retailer in the Western Hemisphere and is dedicated to democratizing fashion and design in footwear and accessories and inspiring fun, fashion possibilities for the family at a great value. Turkish consumers will now be able to turn to Payless to get this year’s must-have shoe and accessory trends including plaid flats and glam-embellished canvas sneakers, messenger bags and plaid handbags, western-inspired boots, assorted clogs and a range of fashionable ballet flats - all at great value prices.

The retailer’s extended children's sizing program will also be available in Turkish stores. This program allows children of all ages to find the best shoes that fit just right. The extended sizing program was created in direct response to customers who conveyed feedback that they buy shoes for children whose feet are adult-sized, but that the fashion, styling and pricing of adult shoes makes it challenging to find the right styles for these kids.
