“Congratulations to all of our chefs who have again performed so well this year. We’re proud of their ongoing commitment to delivering outstanding service and quality to all Alshaya customers.” said Mathew Holgate, President of Food Division at Alshaya Group, at this year's HORECA.
From Asha’s lip-smacking Indian dishes and The Cheesecake Factory’s big juicy burger, to mouth-watering desserts from Dean & Deluca and Café Coco, our chefs cooked up award winning dishes that have not just won the hearts of customers, but also the hearts of judges at Kuwait’s leading food and beverage competition, Hotel, Restaurant and Catering Awards (HORECA).
“Every year, the awards present our chefs with the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and explore innovative ways and techniques to create award-winning dishes. They recognise the dedication of our world-class chefs, whose skills and passion for great tasting food delights our Kuwaiti customers every day.” said Frank Bordini, Head of Culinary at Alshaya Group.
Alshaya’s food brands bagged over 40 medals and 40 merit certificates in a number of categories that included Best Mystery Basket, Asian Cuisine, Best Burger and Kuwaiti Dessert to name a few.
Over 80 participants from Kuwait and other countries took part in this year’s exhibition, competing in 25 categories that were judged by experts and heads of chef unions from a number of European, Arab and Asian countries.
Speaking about his success, Executive Chef of Bouchon Bakery and winner of the Best Kuwaiti Dessert - Axel Thorsteinsson said, “I always enjoy participating in HORECA - it gives me the opportunity to explore the art of possibilities in food and specifically sweets. This not only inspires me, but also pushes me to the next level creatively - hopefully inspiring others to follow the same.”
Alshaya offers customers a choice of more than 25 food brands across the Middle East – including Starbucks, The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s, Shake Shack, IHOP, Babel, Raising Cane’s and Pizza Express.
