Kuwait, 28 October 2015: M.H. Alshaya Co., the leading international retail franchise operator, announced today the opening of Sidra Restaurants (‘Sidra’), in Mahboula, Kuwait. Sidra is a new one-stop dining concept from Alshaya that brings together a collection of world class food brands in a single destination. Seven well-loved American food brands: The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s, Texas Roadhouse, Shake Shack, IHOP, Pinkberry and Starbucks are located at Sidra in a development that represents further growth for each brand and reinforces Alshaya’s commitment to expanding the choice of stores, cafes and restaurants it offers customers.
Sidra’s opening was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the US Ambassador to Kuwait, Mr Douglas A. Silliman and Chief Executive Officer of M.H. Alshaya Co., Mr Wassim Arabi. The opening coincides with Discover America Week, an annual celebration of American culture, food, education and fashion that is taking place in Kuwait from 25 to 31 October 2015.
“The opening of seven U.S. cafe and restaurants brands at Sidra is a powerful symbol of the appeal that American brands have here in Kuwait and the wider MENA region,” said Ambassador Silliman. “As we celebrate the strong cultural and commercial ties that exist between Kuwait and the United States of America through our Discover American Week, I am happy to celebrate the opening of Sidra with Alshaya and thank them for their demonstrable commitment to partnering with U.S. businesses and strengthening the ties between us.”
Alshaya has participated in Discover America Week since its inception in 2013. More than 20 American brands operated by Alshaya from across the food, fashion, health & beauty, and home furnishing sectors are promoting the event in store throughout The Avenues mall.
