Alshaya named Middle East Retailer of the Year

Award recognises Alshaya’s sustained commitment to growth and customer choice

Kuwait, 9 June 2015: International retail franchise operator M.H. Alshaya Co. has been named Middle East Retailer of the Year at the prestigious Global RLI Awards 2015, held at the Meydan Gallery in Dubai last week.

The recognition recognised the company’s dynamic growth - of around 400 stores per year – together with its commitment to delivering an outstanding customer experience, the breadth of its brand portfolio, and its commitment to creating jobs and opportunities within the countries in which it operates.

The Kuwait-headquartered retail operator “stood out from the other nominees on all criteria,” said Jayne Rafter, publisher of RLI, in a statement. “Alshaya’s growth story has been one of the great successes of Middle East retailing, and the company’s commitment to delivering memorable retail and leisure experiences shows in its customer service, the growth of its team and its support of the local communities where it operates.”

John Hadden, the Senior Vice President for Retail Property who collected the award on behalf of Alshaya, said it reflected the company’s successful growth in its core markets across the Middle East and North Africa, Russia, Turkey and Europe, together with its ongoing efforts to give customers “unequalled” retail choices and experiences.

“Alshaya has consistently grown its business by delivering great brands, exciting stores and shopping environments that contribute to the best possible customer experience.” he said. “Apart from an excellent portfolio of stores in leading locations, we also stand out by putting customer service front and centre,” said Hadden.

Alshaya was chosen from a list of four finalists, which included some of the region’s leading retail groups. The RLI awards, now in their tenth year, are presented by RLI, the world’s only global retail and leisure magazine, and has become one of the most highly anticipated events on the global retail and leisure calendar.
