Kuwait, 15 September 2014: For the third consecutive year, M.H. Alshaya Co. has been recognised as the best company for training Kuwaiti nationals by the Manpower and Government Restructuring Programme (MGRP). Representatives from the international franchise operator, which operates more than 70 of the world’s most recognised retail brands, received a commemorative plaque in recognition of its achievement from MGRP Secretary General Fawzi Al-Majdali, at an awards ceremony held last week at MGRP’s new offices in Regaie.
This award recognises Alshaya’s sustained commitment and collaboration with the MGRP to provide young Kuwaiti citizens with retail training programmes, in addition to both full and part-time employment opportunities and internship programmes. The partnership helps foster the mutual goal of Alshaya and the MGRP to encourage more young men and women in Kuwait to seek careers in the private sector.
Mohammed Alshaya, the Executive Chairman of M.H. Alshaya Co., commented: “We are honoured to be recognised as the leading company for training Kuwaiti youth and it is very pleasing to have received this recognition for the third consecutive year. We are constantly developing our training programmes and we are pleased that young Kuwaitis are reaping the benefits. It is one of the many ways we contribute to the communities we serve and demonstrates the company’s commitment to making a difference.”
Alshaya manages a wide range of initiatives aimed at developing the skills of young Kuwaiti men and women in retail, including the annual Retail Summer Programme, a month long programme that provides first-hand experience on the shop floor; the Graduate Recruitment Programme, a full time head-office based scheme which recruits young graduates and places them in an area of the business that reflects their studies and skills; and the Retail Management Programme, a dedicated two year course for those interested in retail operational roles. The company offers diverse professional training courses and employment opportunities, where participants can learn the fundamentals of retail including marketing, financial management, customer service and visual merchandising.
