Kuwait, 5 November 2012: West Elm, the modern home furnishings retailer known for helping people express their personal style at home, today announced the opening of the first franchise retail store outside North America, in Kuwait, to be operated by M.H. Alshaya. The new store, located in the Grand Avenue at The Avenues boasts 16,000 square feet of retail space featuring furniture and home décor in inspirational and artistic product and lifestyle displays designed to make shopping an easy and enjoyable experience.

Originating in New York in 2002, West Elm has since become a favorite destination for design lovers across North America. Their extensive product range includes furniture for bedroom, living, dining and outdoor spaces in addition to a wide range of home accessories for bed, bath and tableware that provide special finishing touches.

Each season, the brand’s talented in-house team of designers creates a collection that can’t be found anywhere else, and works with artists and independent designers globally and locally to develop exclusive collaborations like the beautiful bedding and dinnerware range designed by Italian textile designer Allegra Hicks. The brand also offers handmade and one-of-a-kind discoveries from the communities in which their stores are located, and around the world, working closely with organizations like Etsy that support the development of craft and artisan skills.

West Elm is more than just a shopping experience. Customers will be inspired by the creative and eclectic mix of product and artistic installations that are updated throughout the season. Understanding that each customer is unique, West Elm products can be mixed and matched to make it easy for customers to reflect their own personal style in the home. Specially trained Home Stylists are also available in store to provide one-to-one advice for customers on selecting the prefect colored sofa to styling an entire home, all free of charge.

M.H. Alshaya first established its partnership with Williams-Sonoma Inc. when it opened the first Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids stores outside North America in 2010.
