New brands makes Middle East debut as part of major new mall expansion in Kuwait
Kuwait, 5 November 2012: As part of its ongoing growth and expansion strategy, M. H. Alshaya was pleased to introduce twelve new fashion, food, home furnishings and beauty brands to Kuwait this week, nine of which were new to Alshaya’s brand portfolio. Overall, Alshaya will open 36 stores this November at the newly opened expansion to Kuwait’s leading mall, The Avenues, many of which feature outstanding new design concepts which are unique globally.
The launch of the new brands are in line with Alshaya’s ongoing commitment to introduce innovative new retail concepts to consumers in the region. The openings, which expand Alshaya’s portfolio to over 70 brands, further reinforce the company’s position as one of the world’s leading international retail franchise operators.
The new brands making their debut within Alshaya’s Fashion & Footwear division included Victoria’s Secret, the leading speciality retailer of lingerie and beauty products, Harvey Nichols Kuwait, the internationally acclaimed luxury fashion retailer, Jack Wills, the distinctive British fashion brand aimed at the university crowd, COS, the retailer of iconic but affordable mens’ and womens’ fashion and Sarar, the international menswear brand.
New Food division brand partnerships that made their Middle East debut in Kuwait were Teavana, the speciality tea brand and Garrett Popcorn Shops, the gourmet popcorn specialists. Alshaya’s Home Furnishings division was expanded with the opening of modern home furnishings brand, West Elm and the introduction of Williams-Sonoma, the premier cookware, kitchenware and luxury home furnishings retailer from the United States.
Three further brands already operated in Dubai by Alshaya; TheCheesecake Factory, Jo Malone and Texas Roadhouse (opens 10 November), were also introduced to Kuwait for the first time at The Avenues, reflecting the company’s strategy of growing its franchise brand presence across multiple operating countries.

With the latest additions to its portfolio, Alshaya now operates more than 2,400 outlets in 19 countries across the Middle East and North Africa, Russia, Turkey and Europe. The new store openings also generated 3,000 new jobs, increasing the number of Alshaya employees to over 32,000 people from 110 nationalities. A further five brands, Muji, PBTeen, Sprinkles Cupcakes, KidZania Kuwait and Katsuya will also debut at The Avenues over the next few months.
