Kuwait, 11 March 2012: M. H. Alshaya, the leading international franchise operator for over 55 of the world’s most recognised retail brands, today confirmed its move into e-commerce with the launch of The site is the first fully functional online retail sales offering from Alshaya.

Mohammed Alshaya, Executive Chairman, M.H. Alshaya Ltd., said, “It is 29 years since we launched our retail business with the opening of the first Mothercare store in Kuwait, so it is fitting that we are opening the doors to a new way for our customers to shop – online – with Mothercare once again.

“This launch is the start of an exciting new chapter for Alshaya as we seek to introduce multi-channel retailing to our brands and markets. The next few weeks and months will provide us with valuable learnings and insights from our customers, letting us understand their online shopping behaviour and identify how we can further improve our offering to create a world-class online experience.”

The new Mothercare ecommerce site features a range of more than 1,200 products that customers can browse and buy from the comfort of their own homes, with purchases delivered in as little four days, or available to collect from a Mothercare store of their choice. Continuing Alshaya’s culture of innovation, the site features a number of firsts for e-commerce in Kuwait, including the option for customers to pinpoint their delivery location using geo-coding accurate to within a three metre radius, plus payment on delivery either at home, or on collection in any of 32 Mothercare stores across the country.
