All Roads Lead to Moscow as Starbucks Coffee Company

Moscow, September 4, 2007 – Starbucks Coffee Company announced today the opening of the first Starbucks store in Russia on September 6th at the Mega Khimki Mall in Moscow. The first cup of Starbucks coffee has been served in Russia in a joint venture between M.H. Alshaya Co., the Middle East’s leading retail franchiser, and Starbucks Coffee International.  Starbucks is delighted to bring its high-quality coffees and unique Starbucks Experience to the cosmopolitan city of Moscow.

With the Moscow launch, millions more will have the chance to enjoy Starbucks’ world famous hand-crafted beverages and relax in a friendly environment that has become a favorite third place or haven for millions of people worldwide.

A second, flagship store will open in the center of Moscow on historic Stary Arbat Street later this year.  The Stary Arbat location was chosen because of the street’s unique blend of history as a home to artists, poets and intellectuals combined with its modern status as a destination for Muscovites and visitors from around the world to stroll, shop and dine.
