Kuwait, 27 June 2010 – Mohammed Alshaya, Executive Chairman of M.H. Alshaya Co., has been named Businessman of the Year by the Arabian Business Kuwait Awards. The judges recognised Mr Alshaya’s outstanding business achievements and praised Alshaya’s investment in the region’s retail sector.

On 16 June 2010 M.H. Alshaya Co. announced the opening of Kuwait’s first Pottery Barn home furnishings retail store at The Avenues. A member of the Williams-Sonoma, Inc. portfolio of brands, the new 1,600 square metre bi-level store is located in the Phase 1 area of the mall on the ground and first floors.

On 16 June 2010 M.H. Alshaya Co. opened the first Pottery Barn Kids retail store in Kuwait at The Avenues mall. The iconic US children’s home furnishings brand occupies a 750 square metre store on the ground floor, in the Phase 1 area of the mall.

On March 25 2010, American Eagle Outfitters Inc., (NYSE: AEO) a leading lifestyle apparel brand for women and men 15-to-25 years old, opened a 800 square metre flagship store in Kuwait on the Ground Floor at The Avenues. The launch comes in cooperation with franchisee M.H. Alshaya Co., the leading retailer in the region and follows on from the brand’s Middle East debut earlier in March at Dubai’s new Mirdif City Centre.
